Birmingham Cancer Showcase
Researchers at the University of Birmingham are putting on a special Birmingham Cancer Showcase on Thursday 11th June, 2015. The event, run by the University of Birmingham in partnership with both Cancer Research UK and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, offers members of the public a unique opportunity to meet cancer scientists, researchers, clinicians, and nurses all involved in the fight against cancer. There will be opportunities to go “behind the scenes” in the labs and tissue bank, learn more about local research with a programme of talks focussed on a range of cancers, and take part in interactive demonstrations.
“This should be a great chance for members of the public to find out more about some of the excellent science and patient-oriented studies going on in Birmingham, and how they might impact development of new treatments”, Prof Ben Willcox highlighted. “A number of researchers from the CIIC will be present, and we are excited to talk to members of the public about the amazing progress being made in the cancer immunotherapy field currently”.
The event is being held in the Medical School, University of Birmingham, from 3pm-8pm. Attendees are asked to register beforehand, by clicking the link below.
